Murcar Links is one of Scotland’s finest traditional championship links courses, set on a rugged stretch of coastline just north of Aberdeen. Often overshadowed by some of its famous neighbours, Murcar is a true hidden gem — natural dunes, rolling fairways, firm greens and constant views of the North Sea make it a memorable and demanding test of links golf.
Founded in 1909 and refined by James Braid, the course has hosted major amateur championships and European Tour events, while steadily building a reputation as one of the best golf experiences in Scotland.

Great option for a day of arrival or departure given the short drive to Aberdeen International Airport.
If Murcar wasn’t under the shadow of its famous neighbour, Royal Aberdeen, more golfers would actively seek it out. In fact, every year the members of Royal Aberdeen Golf Club and Murcar play a cross-country match using a combined 18 holes from both courses — played just once annually — creating arguably one of the best links golf courses anywhere.
Trump International Golf Links offers two dramatically different championship links experiences set amongst the towering dunes of the Aberdeenshire coastline, just north of Aberdeen. The property is home to both the world-renowned Old Course and the newer MacLeod Course, combining modern championship golf with one of the most spectacular dune landscapes in Scotland.
The original Old Course quickly established itself among the top modern links courses in the world, while the MacLeod Course has added a second world-class layout that blends seamlessly into the surrounding coastline. Together they offer golfers the chance to experience two distinct links courses during the same visit — both shaped by huge natural dunes, firm running fairways and constant North Sea winds.

Peterhead Golf Club is one of Scotland’s oldest golfing venues and home to the wonderfully quirky and underrated Craigewan Links. Sitting on a narrow strip of land between the North Sea and the River Ugie, Peterhead delivers a traditional links experience full of character, natural dunes and constantly changing coastal conditions.

Getting here is the tip.
This is the course nobody is talking about. Sure, there are half a dozen poor holes, but the stretch through the dunes and valley around the turn is fantastic, and the closing four holes are excellent.
The walking-only bridge crossing after you park up is also unique, memorable and the perfect start to a proper old-school links experience.
